CBS Seattle – A North Dakota station is facing backlash after deciding to fire a news anchor after curing on air on his first day.
A.J. Clemente announced on Twitter that KFYR-TV in Bismarck let him go after he said “f***ing s***” to open up Sunday’s newscast.
Following the announcement of his firing, supporters flooded the station’s Facebook page to show their support for the West Virginia University graduate.
“I wish you would reconsider your decision to fire AJ,” Adam Kyle wrote. “His response and reaction to all of this has been mature and well measured. He has probably won many people over with his humility.”
Philip Chua posted: “The entire country will now judge your station by your actions in this young man’s case. You will be harshly judged for that one error.”
“I’m really disappointed you decided to fire A.J. Clemente for a mistake that hurt no one,” Josh Jamaal said.
So this was pretty big news yesterday. Everyone saw the video of A.J. Clemente dropping a couple of bombs on air. Here’s the video if you haven’t seen it:
I personally thought it was hilarious. Nothing like a news anchor not knowing his microphone is on. I also get why they fired him. Rookie mistake or not, can’t be dropping bombs on the job, ESPECIALLY if it’s your first day. Some veteran would probably get the pass. Some no name Joe Schmo who no one knows? Yeah he gets the boot.
But what I don’t get are the people flocking to their Facebook page. Why the fuck do these people care? I’m certainly not offended by it but when you fuck up at work, you get the boot. Plain and simple. And it doesn’t matter how much class he’s shown after getting fired. Not sure why people are surprised by that either. That’s how you’re supposed to act. Newsflash everyone: you’re not supposed to flip out/cause a scene bash the company you worked for. That’s just common work etiquette. If he never wanted to work again he could have done that, but yeah he did show class…like 99% of normal people when they get fired.
Sidenote – 100% guarantee A.J. Clemente is on tosh.0.
Double sidenote – How many people watch North Dakota news anyway?
