Is Selling Your Boston Marathon Medal on eBay the Biggest Scumbag Move Imaginable?

Boston Marathon MedalI guess there have been about 5 of these that have popped up on eBay. I don’t know how someone can think this is a good idea. Especially if they actually were there and earned it. Your fellow marathon runners and their family members were hurt or even killed and you want to make a few bucks from it? Real nice, asswipe.

They’ve been going for $200-300 bucks. Marathons cost money to enter too. So if you can pony up the money to exercise, I don’t think you’re that strapped for cash that you need to see your marathon medal.

I’d like to think the person selling their medal is going to donate the money to the victims families but we all know that’s not happening.

Update – TeddyKGB brought up a good point I meant to address. The guy buying the medal is probably the worst person:

I think the bigger asswipe is the guy buying… “Oh, so you ran the 2013 Marathon?? Thats crazy! was it scary with the bombs and all?” Reply: “No, I didn’t actually run, just bought the medal on eBay.”
