CBS Denver – Fire engulfed a home in the northeastern part of the Denver metro area Thursday morning at daybreak, causing heavy damage.
Thick smoke poured from the home as firefighters worked to put the fire out with hoses in very cold temperatures. The thermometer showed a reading of 12 degrees while the firefight was going on.
Officials said the homeowners also kept snakes and other reptiles in the home, and had as many as 8,000. Officials with the Rocky Mountain Reptile Expo were working with emergency officials and the homeowners to try to help find new temporary or permanent homes for the animals who survived.
If there was ever a time when I wasn’t upset about someone’s house catching on fire, it’d be now. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a million more times: if you have reptiles for pets, you’re a certified lunatic. 8,000 snakes is 8,000 more snakes than I have want to come across. Easily the worst animals on the planet.
Alright, I do feel bad that they lost their house. The snakes? Not so much.
