NY Daily News – Kid Rock will be rocking out this summer at a discount price.
Fans can enjoy a flat rate of $20 to see him in his summer tour along with Kool & The Gang, ZZ Top and Uncle Kracker.
The “$20 Best Night Ever” U.S. Summer Tour kicks off June 28 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Va., and will promote his 10th studio album “Rebel Soul.”
“Everyone knows the economy is still hurting people across the country,” Kid Rock, 42, said in a statement. “But I didn’t want that to be a reason why everyone couldn’t get out and enjoy themselves on a summer night.”
In addition to slashing ticket prices from VIP to the nose bleed seats, Rock is also reducing beer prices to $4 and promoting safe partying by offering designated drivers free coffee.
But that’s not all. The Kid will also rope off the first two rows of his shows for free upgrades to randomly selected fans.
“We’re going to throw the biggest and best party ever, with prices across the board that are reasonable and transparent,” he continued. “No hidden fees, no gimmicks. We’re not sparing any expense on this tour, we’re going over the top as always, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to ask the fans to pay more.”
His overall effort is based on trying to lure fans to his shows and act as a barrier to scalpers.
“If this works we’re going to play to packed houses of fans who appreciate what we’re doing,” he explained. “If it doesn’t, might be a long summer.”
Regardless, the rockers intentions seem sincere and one can only suspect the fans will appreciate him for it.
“Someone has to go out there and fight these high prices and change things up,” he added about the tour that wraps up on September 15 at Live Nation Amphitheatre in Tampa, Fla. “I’m lucky enough that I can afford to take a pay cut. $20. Best night ever.”
Say what you want about Kid Rock and his music but this guy is a true American. He is giving away $20 tickets to his show because he has made a TREMENDOUS amount of money off the people who support his music. He knows money is tight and he doesn’t want to be a scum bag. He is fighting scalpers, he is cutting beers to $4 all over, and even offering free coffee to those who are designated drivers.
Maybe he will start a revolution and ticket prices will be brought back down for the common man to attend. Jay-Z you should learn from Kid Rock.
