Every single year, the internet (and reality) goes nuts on April Fools’ Day. It seems like almost every company has some sort of announcement for their new product. Some are extremely realistic while others are absurdly terrible at trying to be clever.
Hell, even Dips got tricked by the new bacon flavored mouthwash Scope was releasing. Emailed me a blog about it and everything. Can’t blame him. Whenever it’s something that sounds as awesome as that, your mind doesn’t even question if it’s real or fake. It’s kind of like Peter Pan. Happy thoughts make shit happen.
Anyway, Google released a couple of them: Google Nose BETA and Gmail Blue. Now these are extremely obvious. I personally don’t see a point in doing these but admitedly, they’re extremely well done and I’m sure they’re fun for the employees to put together.
By far the best April Fools’ Day prank on the internet would have to be YouTube switching every video on their homepage to Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” Funny and simple. Can’t go wrong.
Unless they’re done right, April Fools’ Day pranks are the worst. The whole fake product thing is kind of strange but I guess some people are into that.
