Wall Street Journal – Dave Howard, a Mets executive, will take over as president of Madison Square Garden’s sports division, the company announced Monday.
Howard, who spent more than two decades in the Mets’ organization and was instrumental in helping move the team to Citi Field, will oversee business operations for the Knicks, Rangers and the WNBA’s New York Liberty.
Howard replaces Scott O’Neil, who resigned from the position last year. Howard will start as president beginning April 9.
Dave Howard, a Mets executive will take over as president of Madison Square Garden’s sports division. The role with MSG will include working on business development of the Knicks, Rangers, and Liberty. He has spent more than two decades with the Mets in various roles in the front office and one of his major accomplishments was spearheading the effort for Citi Field.
If you’re keeping score at home, Dave Howard just went from working for the Wilpons, majority owner of the Mets to the Dolans, who own the Knicks/Rangers/Liberty. Yes, if you’re thinking like us that is similar from going from eating shit to drinking piss, from worst to bad, slightly better than before.
I mean don’t get me wrong, I’d give up a lot to work in sports and get paid handsomely. Wish the best of luck to Dave Howard, lets hope he is the black widow that prevented the Mets from winning.
Sidenote – What percentage of his choice to move was based on the New York Liberty, WNBA franchise? Has to be a huge part because what grown man doesn’t love the WNBA?
