Congratulation to the Chicago Blackhawks who broke the record for the best start in NHL history at 14-0-3. Previously it was held by the 2006-2007 Anaheim Ducks, where they went on to win the Stanley Cup that year after starting 12-0-4.
In other news this past week, the Buffalo Sabers head coach Lindy Ruff was fired after more than 14 seasons behind the bench and leading the team to a handful of conference finals as well as a Stanley cup final. The most tenured coach in the NHL was in the midst of a losing streak, which the fans of Buffalo have made clear the past few games. Booing and anti GM chants have filled the First Niagara Center; even Jessie Pegula, daughter of owner Terry Pegula got in on the action with this tweet:
Not a good look, but at least it’s honesty. Even the fans seemed to be fine with the honesty of Jessie and the Pegula family. Interim head coach Ron Rolston has been behind the bench since Wednesday, February 20th and hasn’t given the organization much hope after dropping 2 games since his start.
