Sick beard, brah!

Sick beard, brah!

Yahoo – Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price, the reigning AL Cy Young winner, is exactly the type of free agent that New York Yankees would go after. He’s a front-line pitcher, and the Yanks covet arms. He’s a soon-to-be free agent coming from a small market that can’t afford to pay him what the Yankees can.

If Price wants to crack the $200 million-mark — which is entirely possible — New York would be a prime destination.

Yet, Price has already gone on record saying he wouldn’t sign a long-term deal with the Yankees. The main reason? It’s not money, rivalry or reputation. It’s New York’s grooming policy, which prohibits long hair and anything beyond modest facial hair.

So David Price wouldn’t go to the Yankees because they’re old school? Newsflash bro, they’ve won 27 championships. Old school, new school, who gives a shit. Winning is winning. I fucking despise the Yankees but even I would go play for them in a heartbeat. They’re one of the best franchises in sports, in one of the greatest cities in the world, and sell out the majority of their games. Don’t think you’re getting that in Tampa or anywhere else.

Tampa’s attendance averaged 19,255 a game and barely cracked 1.5 million in attendance for the season. Yankees? Over 3.5 million and 43K in 2012. Not sure how your math skills are David but that’s more than double.

Are some of the Yankees rules old school? Absolutely. But that’s what makes them the Yankees. Tradition and quality ball. Plain and simple. So if keeping your beard and not following a few basic rules is your thing, that’s your call. Might be missing a once in a lifetime opportunity here.
