Erik Karlsson Injury

I might as well have a template saved for the beginning of these recaps. Once again, the Blackhawks are still rocking a “0” in the loss column. They’ve not lost 3 times in extra time but that 0 has yet to change. The Hawks have continued to put the puck in the net game after game, and have been backed by great goaltending by both Corey Crawford and Ray Emery. However, before Friday’s game against the Sharks, it was reported that Crawford was not on the ice at practice due to an upper body injury, resulting in the call up of Henrik Karlsson from the Hawks AHL team, the Rockford Ice Hogs.

The Senators suffered a big blow with the loss of Erik Karlsson for the season due to a brutal achilles injury. With 18.7 seconds remaining in the 2nd period, Erik Karlsson and Matt Cooke played a puck in the corner. Which looked like a simple play turned into Erik Karlsson getting his achilles sliced by Cooke’s skate. As much as Matt Cooke gets shit for being a dirty player, this was not his fault at all. It was a freak accident.

Viktor Fasth continued his winning ways and being a freak in net. In three games this past week, Fasth has brought his totals to 7-0-0. In those games, he’s stopped 80 shots on 89 attempts and allowed 9 goals. Although not his best performances, the Ducks have outshot their opponents and still got the W for the 30 year old rookie.

Three Stars of the Week:

3. Patrik Elias: 4 GP, 1G, 4A, 5PTS

2. John Tavares: 3 GP, 3G, 1A, 4PTS

1. Ilya Kovalchuk: 4 GP, 2G, 5A, 7PTS
