Besse Cooper

USA Today – The woman who was listed as the world’s oldest person died Tuesday in a Georgia nursing home at age 116.

Besse Cooper died peacefully Tuesday afternoon in Monroe, according to her son Sidney Cooper. Monroe is about 45 miles east of Atlanta.

Shout out to Besse Cooper for living to see 116. How many of us don’t live to see 75 and this Georgia Peach made it 40 years passed that. She was born in in 1896 and didn’t move into a nursing home until age 105! I don’t care what you say, that’s impressive as shit. Here are some highlights from Besse Cooper’s birthyear, 1886:- Leap year
– Utah admitted as 45th State in the Union
– Charles Dow publishes furst edition of Dow Jones Industrial Average
– William McKinely defeats William Jennings Bryan for the 1896 election
– John Philip Sousa composes his magnum opus, the Stars and Stripes Forever.
– F. Scott Fitzgerald was born

Rest well Ms. Cooper.
