The Woeful Washington Wizards

There isn’t much to be said about the Washington Wizards. They are horrible. With their star guard and only reliable player John Wall out with a stress injury on his left knee, they have started out the season 0-12. Their leading scorer is Jordan Crawford who is averaging 12.3 PPG, is shooting an abysmal .403% from the field, and an even worse .302% from behind the arc. They have a no-name roster full of players like Kevin Seraphin, A.J. Price, Martell Webster, and Chris Singleton. With John Wall still slowly progressing in his injury rehab, things could get much worse for the Wiz.

They are averaging 90.0 points per game, which puts them 30th in the league. As a team, they are shooting .397% from the floor, which is also dead last in the league. However, they are shooting .298% from 3-point range, which is only the fourth worse percentage in the NBA. Movin’ on up, Wizards! Movin’ on up…

What can Washington do to try and at least get one single win this season? Well, not much. Management is in no hurry to rush John Wall, their franchise player, back from injury. Their best players have horrible contracts, making them nearly impossible to trade for prospects or draft picks. There are no free agent players that are going to make the Wizards any better. Although, the argument could be made that no player in the NBA could make this lowly team any better. Their 3rd overall pick Bradley Beal will have to spend his rookie year learning how to lose, which I guess isn’t a bad thing.

There truly is only one thing Washington can do: tank. There is no hope of making a playoff spot. They will not be able to turn this season in to a successful one. Their best option would be to let John Wall slowly come back from his injury, let the Wizards finish at the bottom of the NBA standings, and hopefully come out with a 1st overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Until then, just about every single team in the NBA, and maybe even a few D-League teams, will be routinely crushing the Wizards. I joke. In all seriousness though, don’t cry Wizards fans. Things will get better…
