Fox News – MAN trucks has teamed up with trailer builder Krone to build a futuristic, streamlined semi that could improve the fuel economy and range of long haulers by 25 percent.
The Concept S and Aero Liner combo features an integrated design with a smooth and rounded face that looks like something from “The Clone Wars,” a rooftop spoiler closing the gap between tractor and trailer, and an aerodynamic hunchback roof not unlike that of the Toyota Prius.
Further wind cheating moves include a tapering rear end, skirts over the wheels, slim video camera mounts replacing the huge sideview mirrors typically seen on big rigs, and fuel tanks tucked inside the slick bodywork of the tractor.
At first glance I definitely thought this was some badass RV or someone famous. Nope. Some new high tech big rig. I just have a couple of issues with this thing:
1. Can you honestly picture your standard, everyday trucker in one of these? No way you can rock your basic black and red flannel with your Skoal and Big Gulps. A ride like this should be driven in a tux and only a tux. Probably has the finest leather and mahogany from top to bottom.
2. The Clone Wars? More like fucking Transformers. 1000% chances that thing is a fully functioning robot ready to whoop ass on the Decipticons. Shit maybe it’s against us. Either way, don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.
